(I tried to snapshot the others but the scene goes too fast I can’t catch it on my phone but really, watch the fight and watch Kyojuro’s hand and his katana.) Also, I’m calling this out because it pisses me off, Kyojuro let Akaza hit him in the eye, he sacrificed his left eye to save his blade. His blade is sideways but the sharp edge is directed in towards himself instead of outward towards Akaza. When Kyojuro catches his blade in Akaza’s arm, right before that cut you can see that his sword was blade facing inward and he switched it.
Pay close attention whenever Akaza throws a punch, Kyojuro turns it every time and a couple of them are extremely fast so legit if you blink you miss, there is literally a frame showing Kyojuro changing his hand grip mid-fight so that the katana edge isn’t hit. When Akaza is throwing punches Kyojuro turns the blade inward so the spine and side of the katana are taking the hit not the blade edge and most often moves the blade so that the punch is still partly sliding off. And while we’ve all acknowledged Kyojuro’s sword is a piece of art, I’d also like to point out that one of the reasons his sword doesn’t break until the end when Akaza is forced to pull away is because Kyojuro protects his katana the entire fight.
Something I’m seeing floating around Tumblr a lot recently is the Demon Slayer characters and information about their blades.
